With all the CES and SXSW2016 recaps, here are my 2016 takeaway, bearing in mind Gartner’s hype cycle
Given all the hype on robots and additive 3D printing this year, I found it refreshing to look back at 2014 and 2015 with:
- the Future of Clothing – the Next black which gives a tour of the hybrid studio with 3D printers at 3:23, Lady Gaga 3-D printed outfit with bubbles at 5:11 and the studio explaining the process until 6:55.
and The Human Robot
Suddenly, this piece in CNBC on Humanlike robots and the Uncanny Valley effect: when humans come across something that seems almost human but just misses the mark
and Robots that Will Cook for You made all sense.
I was intrigued by the Secrets Behind Designing an AI Persona. Indeed in a future ripe with AI assistants, machines must seem more human (how cute is this one below?)
With wearables merging with 3D printing, we now get this:
- Autonomous Wearable Camera Drone replacing selfie sticks, and
- Mind blowing 3D printed personalised connected beauty mask
This is only the beginning. Gartner Top 10 Technology Trends for 2016 are here and revolve around 3 pillars: Digital Mesh, Smart Machines and the New IT reality
